"...the
road less travelled..." a personal statement
The nature
of my work involves both teaching and interactive performing. As
a teacher, it is not only my goal to teach juggling, but to use
juggling as a vehicle to learn and understand new concepts. I communicate
through my juggling, creating an universal language everyone can
understand and enjoy.
As
a performer, I move back and forth between the audience and stage,
sharing my joy of juggling as an art form, and spontaneous participatory
event. Every performance is unique, but the pleasure and delight
I always receive in response, is my driving motivation.
What
about juggling as a science? ...Ahhhh!! It is to this end, that
I have explored the philosophy, poetry and geometric theories of
R. Buckminster Fuller. Juggling is filled with geometric patterns,
spacial beauty and poetry. It mesmerizes us with ever changing colorful
multi-dimensional images and challenges us with gravity-defying
feats of technical prowess. Over the years, Fuller's building blocks
have become a foundation for how I view the world around me, more
importantly how I perceive my own work. It is Fuller's lifelong
experiment in seeing the world in a radically different way, that
provides the glue for every performance, every class or seminar,
and every impactful choice I make on my own life long journey.
So,
let me take the opportunity to introduce your world, through mine...
Customized entertainment, performances, classes, and presentations
